They asked me to help organize the wedding, because they know I love nothing more than a flounce around with flowers.

I was thrilled, but there were a few challenges, like weather and distance.

My sister could only get leave during Christmas holidays – and that’s the hottest time in Western Australia. It can be a blistering 42 degrees Celcius (107F). Plus many businesses shut down and venues are full. So we had to book everything ahead, mostly sight unseen.

And finally, we needed to control the budget, because the happy couple were renovating their house, and paying for airfares to fly across the globe.

But we did it! The wedding (excluding airfares) came in under $5K. So here’s how it went down.
