Where To Watch Interesting Theatre Plays For Children In Singapore

Go on an adventure

Stress. Schoolwork. Parental expectations. That’s just a day in the life of young Toni Lee.

She then encounters a magical paintbrush and after an accidental wish, Toni’s transported back in time to a southern province in China. As she sets off on her adventure under the watchful eye of the wise Phoenix, Toni encounters a cruel, greedy Emperor, his comical palace guards and other madcap characters.

What to expect

This October, I Theatre, a family-focused theatre production company, brings you toe-tapping music, lots of action, colourful custom-made puppets, familiar faces from some of Singapore's best TV and homegrown theatre productions, a witty script and lots of laughs with The Magic Paintbrush.

Developed from an old Chinese folktale, this musical treat carries a strong moral message about the value of creativity and friendship as well as the dangers of abusing power.

“The challenge of bringing the audience from present day Singapore to Ancient China – and even on a sea voyage – needed a lot of ingenuity from our set designer. We think you will be wowed by the results!” said Artistic Director Brian Seward.

Performed in English, every child over the age of 3 is welcome to bring his or her parents, siblings and relatives.
